Meghan Smith

Meghan organizes, facilitates, and manages collaborative action initiatives in support of College and Career Readiness and leads work with the Out-of-School-Time Collaborative.

Meghan earned her Bachelor's degree from Samford University and her Master’s from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Meghan has had experience dealing with the challenges faced by first-generation college students through her work with SC Test Prep, which she co-founded, and through its “Open Doors” program that supported a holistic approach to assisting youth set to become first-generation college students.

Meghan volunteers with the Spartanburg Hispanic Alliance and began her first term on the Spartanburg City Council in January 2020. She led City Council efforts toward the unanimous adoption of the resolution, “Healing, Reconciling, and Unity: A Pathway to a More Equitable Spartanburg” the only such municipal resolution in South Carolina.
