Frederick Keenan

College Success Navigator

Frederick Keenan recently joined the Spartanburg Academic Movement this year and serves as the College Success Navigator, serving the Highland and Northside Communities. A native of Spartanburg County, Frederick works to assist individuals in overcoming obstacles to completing a college degree, specifically in the above-mentioned communities. Most importantly, Frederick works to develop relationships and connections in these communities that will facilitate success for all of their residents.

Previously, Frederick worked with Spartanburg Community College, where he taught College Skills courses. These courses focus on teaching students the necessary skills and strategies needed to complete graduation. Frederick has authored two books pertaining to the topic of high school to college transition and personal responsibility. Frederick has also worked with and continues to work with the Viking Early College program in District 7.

Frederick has been married to his wife Yolanda for 36 years, and has 3 daughters, and 6 grandchildren. He earned his MBA from Gardner Webb University and enjoys singing, reading and spending time with his family.
